Career Development at SVA kicks off its Spring 2016 workshops and events series with “Time Management Skills for Artists” on Wednesday, February 10 at 1pm. The workshop, open to current SVA students and alumni, will provide best practices for organization and management of time, as well as tips for handling the stress of a hectic schedule and multiple projects.
Here are a couple of quick tips to get you thinking about how you use your time:
- Cut down (or cut out!) multi-tasking – focus on accomplishing one task at a time and you’ll be able to work through them quickly and with more clarity.
- Create technology boundaries – commit to limiting your time spent on social media, especially during a big project or when a deadline is looming.
- Build renewal into your workday – through taking short walks, setting aside time to exercise or meditate for a few minutes each day—try a meditation app like Calm or Headspace to help guide you.
Other workshops and events in the series include “Applying for Arts Opportunities: Putting Together a Killer Application” on Wednesday, February 17 at 6pm and a Yahoo! Recruiting Information Session on Thursday, March 3 at 3pm. You can view the entire line up of workshops and events on the Career Development website.
