SVA’s ‘Underground Images’ Resurfaces in Istanbul

“Underground Images,” the traveling exhibition of SVA’s eye-catching ads created for New York City subway stations, recently opened in Istanbul as part of the MUIP Biennial, an international poster-design show.It is on view in the main exhibition hall at Mamara University, one of Turkey’s largest institutions of higher education, through December 19. “Underground Images: School of Visual Arts Subway Posters, 1947 to Present” was curated by Anthony P. Rhodes, executive vice president of SVA and creative director of the College’s subway poster campaign since 2007. The exhibition was also mounted this week at Sangmyung University in Seoul, as part of a weeklong series of events, organized by the Korean Alumni Association and SVA Alumni Affairs and Development, for SVA graduates living in South Korea.
