Every year South by Southwest (SXSW) brings together artists, designers, filmmakers, musicians and thought leaders from around the world to Austin for a week-long celebration of creativity. Out of thousands of submissions, alumnus Alexandra Barsky’s (BFA 2013 Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects) The Alligator has been selected to compete in the animated shorts category at this year’s festival, which runs from March 7 – 15. Centered on two creatures trapped in a swamp house by an intimidating alligator circling in the waters outside, the short is the senior thesis film Barsky created at SVA. Following The Alligator’s first screening on March 8, Barsky will answer questions about her project, which was two years in the making.
