For the second year in a row SVA was presented with the prestigious School of the Year award by the Art Directors Club (ADC), the global membership organization for art directors and other creative professionals, at the ADC 90th Annual Awards on May 10. School of the Year is selected based on most cumulative ADC awards won in all categories. SVA captured multiple Gold Cubes, joining industry leaders Wieden+Kennedy, Young & Rubicam, and The New York Times Magazine.
More than 20 awards went to recent alumni, and a Silver Cube in the Design category was awarded to the Visual Arts Press for the 2011-12 SVA Undergraduate Catalog. Gold Cubes went to alumnus Jiwon Kim (BFA 2010 Graphic Design), who was recognized in Design for The Eco Magazine, and to Jungyeon Roh (MFA 2011 Illustration as Visual Essay), who was recognized in Illustration for her three works, “Miss Eggplant’s American Boys,” “Buying Lenin,” and “All About the Public Bath.”
All ADC Gold and Silver winners will be exhibited at the ADC Gallery, located at 106 West 29th Street in New York City, through May 26 and will go on an international tour later this spring.
