Honor Roll: Rodrigo Corral Appointed Creative Director of Farrar, Straus and Giroux

March 31, 2011

Publishing house Farrar, Straus and Giroux (FSG) has issued a statement announcing alumnus Rodrigo Corral (1995 Graphic Design) as its newly appointed Creative Director. Corral worked for FSG for four years after graduating from SVA, and will be taking on this new role with the company while also continuing to operate Rodrigo Corral Design, which he has run for the last nine years.

During his tenure at FSG, Corral has designed the covers for numerous well-known books, including James Frey‘s A Million Little Pieces, an array of Chuck Palahniuk novels, MPS Branding Department Chair Debbie Millman’s How to Think Like a Great Graphic Designer and most recently Jay-Z’s, Decoded. Describing his design process in Mediabistro, he says: “I read the books, look for meanings which help drive the stories but are not necessarily obvious, and I try to come up with an image that will illustrate a few of these ideas at once.”
