The MFA Design Criticism Department has announced its slate of lecture events for the spring 2011 semester. These public events are programmed and hosted by the department’s current first-year students, who have invited notable names to SVA for thought-provoking presentations, lively Q&A sessions and intimate receptions where designers, critics and design enthusiasts can continue the conversation with the featured speaker.
The spring lineup includes industrial designer and lab chief at Rockwell Group, Tucker Viemeister, on Tuesday, February 15; Pentagram partner and writer Michael Bierut on Tuesday, March 1; design historian Linda King on Tuesday, March 22; television critic and “The Medium” columnist Virginia Heffernan on Tuesday, March 29; Wall Street Journal wine critic Lettie Teague on Tuesday, April 5; and fashion historian and FIT Museum curator Valerie Steele on Tuesday, April 12.
