Last month The Nation began using a new cover design for the magazine, and SVA Acting Chairman Milton Glaser and his team were the designers on the project. He and his late partner, Walter Bernard, redesigned the magazine in 1978, and Glaser was asked back to rethink the design once again.
Glaser says of the magazine design, “In the case of The Nation, the actual contents are more important than any visual display. And in terms of quick turnarounds, changes can be made almost instantaneously, which is a big issue in weekly magazines.”
Cover from the January 31, 2011, issue of The Nation.
