Jerry Robinson and Dash Shaw

November 2, 2010

In conjunction with the final week of the exhibition “Ink Plots: The Tradition of the Graphic Novel at SVA,” the College is presenting two more related events:

[UPDATE, 11/2, 10:30am: The Jerry Robinson event has been canceled. Dash Shaw’s lecture will still go ahead as scheduled. We apologize for any inconvenience.]

•A Q&A with comics-industry legend and former SVA faculty member Jerry Robinson, on Wednesday, November 3, 7pm, at 209 East 23rd Street, 3rd-floor amphitheater. A living legend of American comics and one of the College’s original faculty members, Robinson will discuss his influential career and sign copies of Jerry Robinson: Ambassador of Comics (Abrams ComicArts, 2010), written by faculty member N.C. Christopher Couch.

•A Distinguished Alumnus Lecture from Dash Shaw (BFA 2005 Illustration) on Thursday, November 4, 7pm, at the SVA Theatre, 333 West 23rd Street, presented by the Alumni Society of School of Visual Arts. With the publication of Bottomless Belly Button (Fantagraphics, 2008) and BodyWorld (Pantheon, 2010), Shaw has quickly established himself as a leading figure among emerging graphic novelists.

Both events are free and open to the public.
