Earlier this fall, SVA presented “Where Is My Vote? Posters for the Green Movement in Iran,” and exhibition of political posters created n support of the protests that took place in Iran following the 2009 presidential election. Following on the success of its run in the Visual Arts Gallery, a version of “Where Is My Vote?” is heading to the Art Institute of Boston (AIB), where it will appear in the AIB Main Gallery, 700 Beacon Street, November 4 – December 19.
The traveling version of the exhibition gathers approximately 50 political posters by some of the most celebrated graphic artists working today, including R. O. Blechman, Cathie Bleck, Seymour Chwast, Ivan Chermayeff, Milton Glaser, Robert Grossman, Anita Kunz, Yossi Lemel, Jennifer Morla, István Orosz, Woody Pirtle, Andrea Rauch, Ralph Steadman, Gary Taxali, James Victore and Massimo Vignelli, among others.
An opening reception will be held Thursday, November 4, 5 – 7pm, including a 6pm gallery talk with the show’s curator, Francis Di Tommaso (director of student galleries at SVA) and Fatemah Haghighatojoo, a visiting scholar at UMass Boston and a leading proponent of human rights and women’s rights in Iran.
