In The Press: Ti West in The New York Times

The New York Times featured a review of alumnus Ti West’s (BFA 2003 Film and Video) new horror film The House of the Devil. The movie is about a college student who agrees to take on an unusual babysitting job, and the filmmaker tells the story with an aesthetic nod to the horror conventions of the 1980s. West wrote, directed, acted in and edited the film,  which is his fourth feature-length production; the movie was produced by fellow alumnus Peter Phok (BFA 2003 Film and Video). The Times writes that West, at age 29, has, “a real gift for the [horror] genre, particularly in his ability to generate dread with pinpricks rather than bludgeoning shocks, something even veterans twice his age have difficulty achieving.”

The Web site Cinematical posted an interview with West, and Time Out New York also ran a review of The House of the Devil in conjunction with its opening in New York, Los Angeles and Austin on Friday, October 30. View the film’s trailer below:
