A Couple of Collectors

October 15, 2009

PBS is airing a new feature-length documentary called Herb & Dorothy, which tells the story of postal clerk Herbert Vogel and librarian Dorothy Vogel, a couple who used meager means and a self-trained aesthetic sense to quietly build one of the most important collections of contemporary art. The film includes many artists whose work is included in the pair’s collection, including SVA faculty members Lynda Benglis and Lucio Pozzi, and alumnus Sol LeWitt (G 1953 Illustration).

Check the PBS Web site to see when Herb & Dorothy will be airing in television, and visit the film’s own site for information on screenings around the country.
