In addition to the professional shows that are helping to open SVA’s new academic year (click here for information about “Milton Glaser’s SVA” and “Date with the Angels”), the College’s yearlong program of exhibiting student work is also underway. “Young Artists Today” is currently on view at the SVA Gallery, 209 East 23rd Street, and collects a variety of new works by current students in the BFA Fine Arts Department. In describing the array of artists and approaches featured in the show, curator Jeanne Siegel says, “Although all of these artists are quite young, they have used a variety of imaginative materials to create portraits, collages, drawings and paintings that demonstrate their accomplishments and indicate future promise.”
“Young Artists Today” includes works by Warren Allen, Wallis Carney, Elsie Chamberland, Eun Young Choi, Haylie Johnston, Min Jung Kwon, Marina Litvinskaya, John McFadden, Sarah O’Donoghue, Amanda Paccha, Holly Pappalardo, Caitlin Ryan and Megan Whitman, and is at the gallery through Saturday, September 19; there is an opening reception on Thursday, September 10, 6 – 8pm.
