Fail Proof

September 17, 2009

Tag PaintingPainter Agnes Martin once said, “Failure is something that artists do, and do repeatedly,” and this notion is informing “Fail Better,” a new two-person show by a pair of SVA alumni. Malin Abrahamsson (BFA 1998 Fine Arts) and Todd Kelly (MFA 2000 Fine Arts) are presenting new paintings in a process-revealing context that includes, according to the artists, “failed canvases, works in progress, sketches, sketch books, journals,  sources of inspiration and low points of jealousy, artist’s block and frustration.”

“Fail Better” is on view at the NoGlobe Gallery, 488 Morgan Avenue, 3rd floor, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, September 20 – October 18; the opening reception on Sunday, September 20, 3 – 7pm, will feature a DJ set by Zachary Sachs, archives assistant of the Milton Glaser Design Study Center and Archives.
