SVA is hosting a pair of preview screenings of Gary Hustwit’s new feature-length documentary, Objectified. The film investigates people’s everyday interactions with manufactured objects and, by extension, the designers who create them. Tickets are on sale now for the screenings, which will take place on Thursday, April 9, at 6:30pm and 9:30pm, at the Visual Arts Theater, 333 West 23rd Street; each will be followed by a Q&A session with the director and designers from the film.
The documentary includes interviews with designers and design experts including Paola Antonelli, faculty member in the MFA Design and MFA Design Criticism Departments. In addition to Objectified, Hustwit directed the 2007 film Helvetica about typography and visual culture and has produced seven other feature-length documentaries.
The screenings are presented by the MFA Design, MFA Design Criticism and MFA Interaction Design Departments. Visit the Objectified Web site to purchase tickets: $25 for the general public and $20 for SVA faculty and students.
