The Milton Glaser Design Study Center and Archives has just launched a new blog called Container List, which features graphics and design ephemera from the Glaser Archives, a division of the Visual Arts Foundation. The blog was created by Archives Assistant Zachary Sachs who, along with Archivist Beth Kleber, will be posting images housed in the Archives’ collection of materials from design luminaries Milton Glaser, George Tscherny, Henry Wolf and others.
“It’s a great medium to highlight hidden gems from our collections—anything we find to be interesting, beautiful or funny,” says Kleber. “I think people tend to focus on artists’ and designers’ most famous works, but when you’re looking at a collection that represents a long career, lots of great stuff might never be rediscovered. Our goal is to feature those types of items” The blog is updated approximately twice a week, and will combine selections from established collections along with new donations as they are being processed for inclusion in the Archives, including pieces by Seymour Chwast and Heinz Edelmann.
