SVA is launching the new MFA Interaction Design Department in the fall 2009 semester, and Liz Danzico, the department’s chair, is already busy working with the field’s emerging talents. This fall, Danzico is one of the jurors for two esteemed annual publications: the Communication Arts Interactive Annual 14 and the Art Directors Annual 87, which is published by the Art Directors Club (ADC); she judged submissions of interactive work for the former, and was a member of the design category jury for the latter. Sorting through the Web sites and other interactive work for Communication Arts (CA), Danzico notes: “The best things were simple, with one simple concept that they were pursuing pretty hard and a clear storyline, rather than layers and layers of concepts.” The CA annual is available now, and the ADC publication is due out in December
Danzico, an expert in information architecture and usability, is also set to appear at several upcoming design-focused events. The first, taking place September 16 – 19, is the Web 2.0 Expo, at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan. She will also be a featured speaker at Click:NY on Wednesday, October 1, at the ADC, 106 West 29th Street; and the Future of Web Design conference, November 3 – 4, at the Roseland Ballroom, 239 West 52nd Street.
