Multiple Cultural

August 8, 2008

Alumnus Jennifer MacFarlane (BFA 2005 Photography) is connecting to ancient and contemporary cultures in a pair of new projects. First, she served as the official photographer for this year’s Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC), which recently presented a series of events in New York City. Over the course of five days in July, the LAMC featured panels, exhibitions and concerts highlighting the best of contemporary Latin culture. MacFarlane, who began her photography career shooting images from the NYC punk and skateboarding scenes, captured the conference’s live events at the Bowery Ballroom, Central Park Summerstage, Mercury Lounge and the Prospect Park Bandshell. Visit for more on the LAMC.

Also, MacFarlane is one of the teachers presenting Crazy Sexy Wisdom, a women-only series focusing on ways to apply Buddhist teachings and principles to contemporary life. Presented free of charge at The Three Jewels, 61 Fourth Avenue, 3rd floor, the sessions will take place on August 18, 20, 25 and 27, 8 – 10pm. For more information or to RSVP for the series, contact
