On Tuesday, June 24, students from SVA took part in an event that kicked off the new season of the Bravo TV reality series Shear Genius. Working under the guidance of Kevin O’Callaghan, chair of 3D Design at SVA, the students created a pop-up salon, complete with one-of-a-kind salon chairs. The festivities took place at Military Island in New York City’s Times Square, and Shear Genius fans were invited to view the 10 student-designed chairs and vote for a favorite online (click here to vote).
The show offers a behind-the-scenes look at the competitive and creative world of high-end hairstyling, and pits a dozen aspiring stylists against each other in competitive tests of coiffing skill. Season 2 of Shear Genius, hosted by actress Jaclyn Smith, airs on Wednesday nights at 10pm eastern time on Bravo.
