This week, SVA’s Web site, www.sva.edu, was named a People’s Voice winner of the 2008 Webby Awards. The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences awards Webbys in nearly 70 categories, and SVA brought in the highest popular-vote tally in the School category. This marks the third Webby win for the College, and is the fourth time SVA has been a nominee in the category. The Webby awards will be handed out at a gala ceremony on Tuesday, June 10, and will feature special guests including Webby Person of the Year Stephen Colbert.
Another set of honors comes by way of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, which just announced its finalists for the 2008 Student Academy Awards. Among the finalists in the competition’s four categories—Alternative, Animation, Documentary and Narrative—Hyunjeen Lee (BFA 2007 Computer Art) was cited for Fish in the Alternative group, and Tatchapon Lertwirojkul (MFA 2007 Computer Art) received a nod for his animated work, Simulacra. The winners will be announced on Saturday, June 7, in Hollywood.
