Recent graduate Adi Lavy (BFA 2007 Photography) is the only American photographer shortlisted for the 2008 Hyères International Fashion and Photography Festival. The festival, which takes place in Hyères, France, April 25 – 28, has been running for 23 years for fashion design and 10 years for photography. The event works to promote emerging photographers by giving them the opportunity to showcase their work and meet some of the top professionals in the fashion and photography fields.
Lavy is one of 10 shortlisted artists who will have the opportunity to meet individually with each of the festival’s jury members, including photographers Elaine Constantine and Melvin Sokolsky; David Sebbah, a senior art director for The New York Times’ style magazine; and Urs Stahel, director of Zürich’s Fotomuseum Winterthur. The exhibition of work will remain on view for more than a month after the festival at the 1920s landmark Villa Noailles.
