Kids Upstate

March 7, 2008

The northwest section of New York State is a cold, snowy place in the winter, but alumnus and faculty member Tim Rollins (BFA 1977 Fine Arts) and his youth-art project, Kids of Survival (KOS) are warming up the region with a pair of shows on the campuses of Syracuse University and Colgate University. Syracuse’s The Warehouse Gallery presents “King and Courage,” a selection of work inspired by the speeches of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Red Badge of Courage by author Stephen Crane, through Saturday, April 5.

Rollins and KOS’s second exhibition is running simultaneously at Colgate’s Clifford Art Gallery, in Hamilton, NY. “Let There Be Light,” on view through April 6, collects a folio of seven screen prints inspired by Franz Josef Haydn’s 1798 The Creation oratorio.
