Taking Stock

February 15, 2008

As news of world financial markets continues to dominate the mainstream media, alumnus Jesse Pasca (BFA 1992 Fine Arts) is presenting “My Heart as a Stock Market” at the Mehr Gallery, 436 West 18th Street. Executed over a two-year period, each work uses grids and graphs to discover time-based correlations between the artist’s rigorously mapped changes of heart and mind and the concurrent market fluctuations in the Dow. Just as the stock market fluctuates in ways big and small due to the confluence of events in the financial world, Pasca locates the emotional, psychological and physical events in his own life that affect his personal “stock,” rendering these changes as colorful and information-dense works of art. “My Heart as a Stock Market” is on view through Saturday, March 8.
