A selection of the best of BFA Computer Art Department student films from the class of 2007 has been accepted by the Big Apple Film Festival. Running November 14 – 17 at the Tribeca Cinemas, 54 Varick Street, the festival will showcase 18 student works, and the screening on Saturday the 17th will be followed by a special program, including a panel discussion entitled Film Distribution in the New Age. In other film news, recent alumnus Will Wedig’s (BFA 2006 Film and Video) film Rise of the Dead has been picked up by Lions Gate for a November release on DVD. The 71-minute feature, which was originally titled Tantrum, is set in the sleepy town of Dudley, Ohio, which is quickly set upon by legions of brain-munching, flesh-eating undead.
