September 14, 2007

One of the bestselling styles in the comic-book realm is Manga, a genre imported from Japan that’s made a hit around the world. Those interested in learning the ins and outs of this popular comics mode can check out Manga For Dummies, penned by alumnus Kensuke Okabayashi (BFA 2001 Illustration). This latest addition to the ongoing For Dummies series is a step-by-step guide to creating Manga characters, from rough sketch through final full-color renderings. Okabayashi covers everything from defining the Manga style and creating characters to plotting the action and dreaming up high-tech gadgets. In addition to providing thorough instruction, Manga For Dummies also comes with a full-color eight-page insert with an original Manga comic.
