Talk On

April 13, 2007

The MFA Art Criticism and Writing Department presents a talk by Peter Lamborn Wilson (aka, Hakim Bey), a political writer, essayist, poet and founder of Autonomedia magazine. His books include Ontological Anarchy, Poetic Terrorism, Pirate Utopias and Gothic Institutions. He is perhaps best known for first proposing the concept of the Temporary Autonomous Zone, based on a historical review of pirate utopias. The talk will take place on Thursday, April 19, 7pm, in the Amphitheater, 209 East 23rd Street, 3rd floor. Free and open to the public.

Also, Visual Arts Library Director Robert Lobe is moderating a conversation between MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department Chair Charles Traub and faculty member Philip Perkis, on the topic Thinking and Acting Photographically. The discussion will happen at Soho Photo Gallery, 15 White Street, on Tuesday, April 17, 7 – 8:30pm. General admission to the event is $5, and student admission is $2.
