The Way to Santa Fe

January 5, 2007

SITE Santa Fe, a contemporary art space that works to bring today’s art to the Southwest, has appointed Lance Fung (MFA 1990 Fine Arts) as curator for its Seventh International Biennial. From July 2008 to January 2009, SITE will present what will be, according to Fung, “a different sort of biennial” that will focus on collaboration, inviting “like-minded organizations around the globe that share the same energy, enthusiasm and commitment to mission” to participate.

Fung will draw on his experience as a worldwide independent curator, having put together exhibitions that include “Crossing Parallels” at the SSamzie Space in Seoul, Korea; “Revisiting Gordon Matta-Clark” at the 2002 Venice Architectural Biennale; and “The Snow Show” in Torino, Italy for the 2006 Olympic Winter Games. Fung is currently curating a large-scale exhibition of public installations in Beijing, China, in conjunction with the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
