Missing on the Road

January 5, 2007

Last fall, SVA presented “Still Missing,” an exhibition of works by a diverse array of artists whose work explored the sense of isolation or disconnectedness that has come to define the modern era. Artists Richmond Burton, Jeff Gauntt, David Humphrey, Katharina Immekus, Verena Landau, Matthias Ludwig, Chris Martin (MPS 1992 Art Therapy), faculty member Gary Stephan and faculty member/alumnus Amy Wilson (BFA 1995 Fine Arts) all contributed work that addressed the longing for more fulfilling social relations and its relationship to beauty as an expression of hope or desire.

Curator Tom Huhn, chair of SVA’s Art History Department, is taking the show on the road: Connecticut’s Westport Arts Center will be restaging “Still Missing” in its gallery from January 12 – March 4, with an opening reception on Friday, January 12, 6:30 – 8pm.
