The Art of War

November 10, 2006

Politicians, pundits and protesters are frequent commentators on the state of the war in Iraq, and now Humanities and Sciences Department faculty member Camillo “Mac” Bica is providing an opportunity for artists to contribute to the dialogue. On Thursday, November 16, Bica (who is a Vietnam War veteran) will be moderating a panel discussion entitled Voices of War: The Artist’s Perspective, featuring panelists who are all Iraq War vets and artists: alumni Peter Buotte (BFA 1999 Fine Arts), James Martin (Film and Video) and Richard Hayden (BFA 2000 Photography), along with current BFA Computer Art Department student Brian Nielson, will discuss their views and talk about how their experiences in the war have affected their artwork.

The Voices of War panel will take place from 7 – 10pm in the Gene Stavis Theater, 209 East 23rd Street, 5th floor; free and open to the public.
