Make Change

November 10, 2006

BLDGBLOG, a blog that covers the worlds of architecture and the urban landscape, recently posted this intriguing query: “If you’re in the market for a new, beautifully designed, wide-eyed and optimistic 600+ page book about the world to come—a world of smart growth, sustainable communities…green building and landscaping, clean energy…and socially responsible investment…” The writer was effusively referring to Worldchanging: A User’s Guide for the 21st Century (Abrams), a newly released book with a hefty design by MFA Design Department faculty member Stefan Sagmeister.

Edited by Alex Steffen, a writer and commentator on environmental issues, the book contains practical ideas for a sustainable future, broken down into seven topics: Stuff, Shelter, Cities, Community, Business, Politics and Planet. Sagmeister designed the book to let each section interact with the Worldchanging Web site and present Steffen’s serious ideas in an engaging, accessible format.
