Going Solo

Two recent alumni are currently debuting their first NYC solo shows. Rachel Papo (MFA 2006 Photography, Video and Related Media) is bowing with “Serial No. 3817131” at the 92nd Street Y’s Weill Art Gallery, located on Lexington Avenue at 92nd Street. The exhibition includes 15 photos drawn from Papo’s thesis portfolio project, which documents the everyday lives of young women in the Israeli army. The show will run October 27 – December 7, 1 – 5pm, with an opening reception on Wednesday, November 1, 5 – 6:45pm; be sure to visit the Y’s Web site for public viewing dates or to make an appointment.

The other solo debut is “Exodus of Dinosaur,” a site-specific installation by Wonjung Choi (MFA 2004 Fine Arts) that uses layers of plastic sheeting to create a pair of skeletal dinosaurs. The work will be installed at PH Gallery, 547 West 27th Street, 2nd foor, October 19 – November 18.
