The Art of Conversation

September 22, 2006

The long-running panel discussion series Artists Talk on Art (ATOA) is back at SVA for the third season of ATOA’s collaboration with the College. Kicking off its fall 2006 schedule on Friday, September 29, ATOA presents Studio Museum in Harlem, a panel of contemporary African-American artists, including Deborah Grant, Nadine Robinson and Kehinde Wiley, who will discuss their work and the museum; Christine Y. Kim, associate curator of the Studio Museum in Harlem, will moderate. The following week, Friday, October 6, is Contemporary Chinese Artists, a panel discussion surveying leading contemporary artists in China, with artists Xu Bing, Zhang Jianjun and Lin Yilin, and art critic and International Center of Photography curator Christopher Phillips. Both events take place at 7pm in the Amphitheater, 209 East 23rd Street, 3rd floor. Admission is free for SVA students, faculty, staff and ATOA members; $7 regular admission; $3 for SVA alumni, non-SVA students and seniors.
