Hot Off the Presses

April 14, 2006

Two SVA alumni have new products ready to hit store shelves. Amy Sillman (BFA 1979 Fine Arts) has just completed a new book, Amy Sillman—Works on Paper, which is about to be published by Gregory R. Miller & Company. The book features four major series of Sillman’s drawings, and includes an essay by acclaimed writer Wayne Koestenbaum. Sillman also has an exhibition of new paintings and works on paper on display at Sikkema Jenkins & Co., 530 West 22nd Street, through Saturday, May 6.

Also, New Video has just released a DVD entitled Plymptoons: The Complete Early Works of Bill Plympton, which gathers nearly two dozen short animations by Bill Plympton (1969 Cartooning). The disc’s bonus materials include a 20-minute interview with the artist and a time-lapse look at Plympton working in his studio. Plympton and a fellow animator alumnus, John Dilworth (BFA 1985 Animation), will be screening more recent works at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, April 25 – May 7.
