Acting Up

April 21, 2006

Academy Award-winning actor Jon Voight visited the College last week as part of the BFA Film, Video and Animation Department’s ongoing series of celebrity Q&A sessions. Department Chair Reeves Lehmann sat down with Voight in front of a capacity crowd in the Amphitheater, but the high-energy actor was soon on his feet, microphone in hand, telling stories from his career and answering students’ questions. Voight described working on the sets of Coming Home (for which he won an Oscar in 1978), Midnight Cowboy, Deliverance and others, and occasionally reenacted memorable moments on the Amphitheater stage. In addition, students were treated to a sneak-preview trailer for the film he recently shot in New York City, The Legend of Simon Conjurer.
