Alumni Society Scholarship Winners

February 24, 2006

The Alumni Society of SVA has just announced this year’s Alumni Scholarship Awards. Twelve BFA students and eight MFA students received awards ranging from $500 – 2,000, which will help fund their senior thesis/portfolio projects. The awards come from generous donations from alumni, parents and friends of SVA. To qualify for an award, the students were required to have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and submit a detailed thesis project proposal. The proposals were reviewed by panels comprised of notable SVA alumni, which made recommendations to the Alumni Society Board for final approval.

The winners are: Marcelo Gorenman (BFA Animation Department); Nicolas Cinquegrani and Hyeondo Park (BFA Cartooning Department); Eric Wagner (BFA Computer Art Department); Yaniv Dabach, Rhiannon Davidson, Onn Nir and Evan Wise (BFA Film and Video Department); Peter Lee and Li Huan Wu (BFA Fine Arts Department); Alice Li (BFA Illustration Department); Avital Aronowitz, Adam Branson and Jun Ho Yang (BFA Photography Department); Katiushka Melo (MFA Computer Art Department); Jay Outis (MFA Design Department); Bradley Castellanos, Christine Sun Kim, Dylan Mortimer and Joshua Shaddock (MFA Fine Arts Department); Margaret Herster, Miao (Meggie) Miao and Sophia Peer (MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department).

The Society also announced two separate awards in specific fields: the William C. Arkell Memorial Scholarship Award, given annually to support a BFA Film and Video Department major working in the narrative film genre, went to Meredith Saucier; and the Robert I. Blumenthal Memorial Award, which is given to a student working in graphic design, went to Abigail Beck, a senior in the BFA Graphic Design Department.
