A Novel Idea

February 3, 2006

The first rule of writing is to write about what you know. SVA alumnus and faculty member Everett Aison (G 1959 Graphic Design; faculty, BFA Film, Video and Animation Department) has taken his knowledge of art and artists and applied it to his new novel, Artrage (Pleasure Boat Studio). The book tells the fictional story of Mace Caslon, an attorney and art collector who suddenly and violently defaces a priceless Picasso painting in NYC’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Aison uses this narrative framework to examine aspects of the art world, celebrity and the value placed on works of art.
