ONCE Upon a Time

January 6, 2006

This month, Director of Student Galleries and the Visual Arts Museum Francis Di Tommaso will be traveling to Madrid, Spain, as part of the curatorial committee for the inaugural ONCE Foundation’s International Biennial of Contemporary Art for Persons with Disabilities. The exhibition will take place January 9 – 31, and will include work that explores the five senses, made by or about persons with disabilities and artists under the age of 35. The event will also feature a full slate of scheduled workshops, performances and roundtable discussions; Di Tommaso will moderate a lecture by the blind Slovenian photographer Evgen Bavcar.

In addition to Di Tommaso, the College will be represented by faculty members Lisa Furman (MPS Art Therapy Department) and Ellen Wallenstein (BFA Photography Department), and alumna Kimberly Roppolo (BFA 2001 Fine Arts; MPS 2005 Art Therapy), all of whom will have work on display.
