Ad It Up

January 20, 2006

As this year’s movie and TV award season gets into full swing, an SVA alum has just received a major nod: Craig Gillespie (BFA 1989 Advertising) was tapped by the Director’s Guild of America (DGA) as a nominee for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials. Gillespie directed three spots for production company MJZ that were cited by the DGA – the “Mini-Mart” commercial for Ameriquest, and two ads for Altoids. This is Gillespie’s third time being recognized by the DGA, following nominations in 2001 and 2002.

Another ad nominated in this category – Adidas’ Hello Tomorrow, directed by Spike Jonze – was produced by Jennifer Golub (BFA 1979 Fine Arts), director of broadcast production for the San Francisco office of ad agency TBWA/Chiat Day. The winner will be announced at the 58th Annual DGA Awards Dinner on Saturday, January 28, in Los Angeles.
