MIT Press has just published Museum Highlights: The Writings of Andrea Fraser by Andrea Fraser (1983 Fine Arts). This new collection of essays (written between 1985 and 2003) looks critically at artistic practice from Fraser’s point of view as a working artist. Fraser writes about the role of museums in an era of globalization, explores the relationship of art to economic and political interests, and presents her performance script for an unusual docent tour.
In other book news, Steven Brower (1970 Advertising and Graphic Design) will be signing his new book, Woody Guthrie Artworks: The Journals, Drawings and Sketchbooks of an American Original, on Monday, November 14, 7pm, at the Chelsea Barnes & Noble, 675 Sixth Avenue. Admission is free.
