Double Pop

October 28, 2005

Painter Kenny Scharf (BFA 1981 Fine Arts) is making a double-headed debut at Paul Kasmin Gallery: at the gallery’s 293 Tenth Avenue location, Scharf has “Superpop,” an exhibition of new canvases; and at Kasmin’s 511 W. 27th Street space, the artist is showing Closet #24, a site-specific black-light installation. The work in both spots will have Scharf’s signature array of American cultural detritus, from the dense pastiches in “Superpop” to Closet #24’s jumble of glowing found objects. Both exhibitions will be on view through Saturday, November 12.
