Perfectly Perverse

July 8, 2005

BFA Illustration and Cartooning Department Chair Thomas Woodruff is co-curator of “Idols of Perversity,” a new exhibition that re-imagines Bram Dijkstra’s 1986 book Idols of Perversity – Fantasies of Feminine Evil in Fin-de-Siecle Culture, through the eyes of several contemporary artists. Each work included in the exhibition depicts a young woman or man, using centuries-old techniques to make modern commentary on Dijkstra’s ideas. In addition to Woodruff, “Idols of Perversity” will include work from Lori Earley (BFA 1995 Illustration), James Jean (BFA 2001 Illustration), June Kim (BFA 2002 Graphic Design) and Tim Mensching (BFA 2002 Illustration), at Bellwether, 134 Tenth Avenue, through Saturday, August 6.
