Finger Painting

June 10, 2005

Painter and longtime BFA Fine Arts faculty member John Parks has an exhibition of recent works, entitled “English Landscapes as Finger Painting,” at New York City’s Allan Stone Gallery through Tuesday, July 19th. An expatriate Englishman, Parks depicts archetypal British scenes — including gardens, foxhunting and polo — using a child’s painting method to recapture images that stirred his imagination as a boy in Leeds. In addition to his regular classes at SVA during the academic year, Parks is also spending two weeks teaching at the College’s Summer Institute in the Berkshires, a series of intensive artists’ workshops at the Darrow School of New Lebanon, New York, this summer.
