Designing Winners

April 8, 2005

On Wednesday, March 30, at The National Arts Club, SVA co-hosted a dinner and ceremony to honor internationally known textile designer Jack Lenor Larsen with the Gold Medal Award for Interior Design. BFA Interior Design Department Chair Lovejoy Duryea, who won the Gold Medal in 2003, helped organize the black-tie event, which featured video highlights of Larsen’s career and a speech by Pulitzer-prize winning playwright and 2003 SVA Commencement speaker Edward Albee.

Earlier that week at The National Arts Club, the Interior Design Department held its senior thesis reception and announced the recipients of this year’s thesis awards. The winners were: Best Thesis, Sunny Hong and Molly Garretson; Outstanding Thesis, Daniel Arango, Shiho Igarashi and Heejin An; Junior SVA IIDA/NY Student Chapter Awards, Aurisbel Banny, Lauren Landy and Melissa DiChello; Sophomore SVA IIDA/NY Student Chapter Award, Alyssa Miller; and Freshman SVA IIDA/NY Student Chapter Award, Keith Lang.
