Performing Artists

March 4, 2005

The Visual Arts Student Association (VASA), the College’s student government, recently presented the first SVA Talent Contest. Ten students took to the Student Center stage and competed in front of three judges — Student Activities Coordinator Donald Hudec, Carla Aljoe from the Office of Admissions and Jerry Kenney from the Office of Resource Management — and nearly 50 audience members. Three acts walked away with prizes — First Place: Jason Chu, performing on guitar and vocals, won a 1-year membership at Synergy Health Club; Second Place: Diana Ho, performing Mariah Carey’s “Hero,” won a Best Buy gift certificate; Third Place: Lisa Case, performing a song by Billie Holiday a capella, won two free passes to any Loews movie theater. Due to the success of the show, VASA is planning another Talent Contest for later in the spring.
