Celebrity Ceramics

February 4, 2005

While international charitable efforts are currently in the public eye, many New York-area groups continue their ongoing altruistic work with local communities. Francis X. Duffy (BFA 1978 Media Arts), president of design firm Duffy Barrett & Taggart, has partnered with regional food bank and anti-hunger organization Long Island Cares (LIC) to present “Celebrity Ceramics.” The fundraising project reproduces celebrity doodles on 6” x 6” ceramic tiles, and 15% from the sale of each tile is being donated to LIC’s Harry Chapin Food Bank to help fight hunger. So far, doo-wop singer Dion DiMucci, pop star Phil Collins and author Nelson DeMille have all donated art for Celebrity Ceramics tiles; Duffy is working to add more notable names to the list.
