A Designing Woman Goes to Town

January 21, 2005

After hosting the hit TV show Trading Spaces, Genevieve Gorder (BFA 1998 Graphic Design) is setting her sights on a bigger project with her new program, Town Haul. Debuting Saturday, January 22, 10pm, on The Learning Channel (TLC), Town Haul sets Gorder the task of remaking a whole town. Set in the Catskills village of Jeffersonville, NY (population: 500), the series has the often-barefooted Gorder enlisting the small town’s residents to enact a large-scale makeover, from the entire Main Street and Jeffersonville Village Hall to a new, permanent residence for town icon Cowboy Bob. Each episode will tackle a new remodeling challenge, bringing Gorder’s free-spirited design sense to every corner of Jeffersonville.

Moving from screen to stage, cross-dressing comedic entertainer Murray Hill (MFA 1997 Photography and Video) will bring his bawdy variety show to Fez, 380 Lafayette Street, on Sunday, January 23. The Murray Hill Show features singing, celebrity impersonations and plenty of off-the-cuff humor.
