Knight Time

October 21, 2004

Discerning shoppers hoping for a knight in shining armor this holiday season now have a viable option. Jeff Wasson (BFA 1997 Fine Arts), who makes custom-designed armor and swords, has been selected by Neiman Marcus to create one of the “fantasy gifts” in the company’s 2004 holiday catalogue. For a list price of $20,000.00, Wasson will create a custom-fit suit of armor made of hand-hammered steel, from the sallet (helmet) to the sabatons (foot pieces). The catalogue is offering suits for up to 20 customers, and is including two sword-fighting lessons in the package. Other fantasy gifts offered by Neiman Marcus include a 5,000-square-foot bowling center and a chance to sit in with the band at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry.
