SVA’s newly revamped Web site, www.schoolofvisualarts.edu, is being recognized with some impressive awards. The Web Marketing Association (WMA) has picked SVA’s site as the Best University Web site in its 2004 WebAward Competition. The WMA has been handing out WebAwards since 1997, judging sites in 80 categories. The site also received a Silver Award from the University and College Designers Association (UCDA) in its 34th Annual Design Competition. The UCDA’s annual awards recognize the best design work done to promote higher education.
The College’s new site was produced by creative director Anthony P. Rhodes, SVA’s executive vice president, and the Web team of Toni-Ann Accardi, Adam Behar, Abimbola Famuyiwa (BFA 1997 Advertising and Graphic Design), James McKibben, Steve Osit, Ben Rhodes and Jonathan Robles (BFA 1999 Fine Arts), in collaboration with media-development firm Funny Garbage (co-founded by former SVA fine arts student Peter Girardi) to give SVA an exciting new look online. In addition to student artwork and information about campus events and academic programs, the site introduces Squidley, the College’s new online mascot.
