The Visual Arts Press has recently earned a sizable clutch of industry awards. Under Creative Director Silas H. Rhodes and Art Director James McKibben, the Press has been recognized by the University and College Designers Association (UCDA) in its 34th Annual Design Competition with awards for: the Thinking Life poster, designed by Stefan Sagmeister; the Art is poster, designed by graphic design instructor Frank Young; the MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department’s Portfolio, Points of View, designed by Daniel Kitae Um; the Interior Design Department’s “Design as Preservation: The Future of a Shaker Stone Barn” catalogue, designed by McKibben; the MAT Art Education Department’s “Art for Kids” brochure, designed by Donna Montilli; and the Visual Arts Journal’s Fall 2003 issue, designed by Montilli.

In addition to the UCDA nods, the Visual Arts Journal, Young’s poster and graphic design instructor James Victore’s SVA We Love NYC poster were included in Print magazine’s Regional Design Annual 2004; Victore’s poster was also selected for the AIGA’s 365: Annual Design Competitions 25 and received a merit award in the Art Directors Club’s 83rd Annual Awards.
