A Spirited Award

On Monday, June 7, BFA Fine Arts instructor Tobi Kahn will receive the Visual Arts Award at the 15th Annual Jewish Cultural Achievement Awards ceremony, presented by the National Foundation for Jewish Culture in the Plaza Hotel’s Grand Ballroom. Kahn is a painter and sculptor, whose recent exhibitions “Reflections” and “Sky and Water” were both covered in the VA Briefs. Kahn’s latest project, a book about his ceremonial art entitled Objects of the Spirit: Ritual and the Art of Tobi Kahn, was published by Hudson Hills Pr in May.

In other award news, Joan Li (BFA 2004 Interior Design) was a winner for Outstanding Student Achievement in Interior Design at the Decorator’s Club Spring Education Awards. Her work, as well as that of fellow graduates Jane Poochareon and Julia Spector, is on display at the New York Design Center, 200 Lexington Avenue, Ground Floor Conference Room and Lounge, through June 13.
