High-Tech Success

Dishka Watwani, a third-year student from the Advertising and Graphic Design Department’s Digital Video (DV) Workshop class, was recently awarded a $2,500.00 Adobe scholarship from the Art Directors Club (ADC). Selecting four winners from a pool of 74 student entries, the ADC named Watwani as this year’s Adobe Experimental Film Scholar. DV instructor Jeffrey Metzner commented that Watwani’s win reflects the overall quality of the College’s DV program. “We are still so far ahead of the curve on the DV phenomenon,” says Metzner, “SVA is the school to go to if you want to learn this medium.”

The BFA Computer Art Department also received winning news this week: four students who will begin their senior year in the fall—Adam Barfield, Andres Hernandez, Samuel Roldan and Nelson Ramirez—have been awarded first prize in www.nomoresecrets.info’s Anarkon Contest for their 3D Web game, Wizo’s Adventure. Anark, the company behind the software powering the game, will feature Wizo’s Adventure in their newsletter and on their site, www.anark.com.
